SouthWest Athletes Podium at the 2026 Sydney International Open

  • Written by Jacob Read
  • on 22 February 2026

SouthWest Judo Academy is proud to celebrate a strong performance from our athletes at the 2026 Sydney International Open, held on Saturday, 21 February at the Whitlam Leisure Centre in Liverpool, NSW. Following a busy national competition block that included the Canberra International Open and the National Randori Camp, both Jacob Read and Olivia Knights carried their momentum into Sydney and delivered standout results, each finishing on the podium.

Olivia secured the bronze medal in the Junior Women Under 57 kg division, showing composure and determination as she worked through her matches and finished the day strong. Jacob backed it up in the Senior Men Under 60 kg division, also taking bronze.

It’s a great outcome for SouthWest to have both athletes podium at a major event on the national calendar, and a credit to the work being done on the mat at home as well as the commitment shown throughout this intensive travel and competition period. Congratulations to Jacob and Olivia, and a big thank you to the coaches, training partners, and supporters who help make these opportunities possible.
