SouthWest Members Compete at the 2025 Kano Open Judo Competition

  • Written by Jacob Read
  • on 24 February 2025

This past weekend, on Sunday, 23 February, ten dedicated members of SouthWest Judo Academy took to the mats at the 2025 Kano Open Judo Competition, hosted by Kano Judo Schools in Joondalup.

A huge congratulations to our members who secured podium finishes: Nate Stevens, James Taylor, Lilly Taylor, Cody Robinson, Kayden Ramage, Nick Goff, Guy De Vos, and Sean Butler.

We also want to give a special shout-out to Hunter Kruger, Ryan Buttle, and Evan McInnes, who gave it their all on the mats but narrowly missed out on a medal this time. For some of our members, this was their very first tournament, and simply stepping onto the competition stage is a huge achievement in itself. We are incredibly proud of every single competitor for their effort, spirit, and sportsmanship.

A massive thank you to Sensei Krystal and Sensei Aramiti for their support, coaching, and encouragement throughout the event.

Thank you also to Kano Judo Schools for hosting such a well-run and competitive tournament.

🥋💪 Well done, team! Onward and upward!
