SouthWest Judo Academy enjoyed a successful day at the 2026 Judo Ryu WA Open Championships, held at Fremantle PCYC on Sunday, 23 August 2026.
Twelve SouthWest athletes joined a field of 98 competitors from nine Western Australian clubs, testing themselves across divisions ranging from Under 9 through to veterans.
The team produced some excellent judo throughout the day, returning home with an impressive 11 medals—seven gold, one silver and three bronze.

- Isaac Johannes Salzmann — Under 15 Boys, Under 73kg
Kent Caputo also proudly represented SouthWest in the Veteran Men Under 73kg division.
Every athlete who stepped onto the mat demonstrated courage, determination and great team spirit. Regardless of the final result, each contest provided another valuable opportunity to gain experience, build confidence and continue developing their judo.
