2025 Kodokan Seminar

We are excited to host the 2025 Kodokan Judo Seminar and Dan Grading in Perth from 24 to 27 January 2025. This unique event brings three esteemed Kodokan instructors from Japan to deliver comprehensive technical and kata seminars over three days, culminating in a Kodokan Dan Grading Examination.

Seminar Details:

  • Dates: Friday, 24 January to Sunday, 26 January 2025
  • Sessions:

    • 3 Technical Seminars: Focus on nage-waza (throwing techniques) and katame-waza (grappling techniques).
    • 3 Kata Seminars: Primarily covering nage-no-kata and katame-no-kata. Additional katas may be explored time permitting.

  •  Eligibility:

      • Must be a registered member of Judo Australia.
      • Minimum age of 12 years.
      • Hold at least a green belt.
      • Basic understanding of nage-no-kata.

  • Cost: $40 per person for the full three-day seminar

Dan Grading Examination Details:

  • Date: Monday, 27 January 2025
  • Eligibility:

    • Must hold a Judo Australia Dan Grade.
    • Participation in at least the kata components of the seminar is required.
    • Meet criteria outlined in the Kodokan Dan Promotions Manual.

  • Costs: 

    • Lifetime Kodokan Membership: ¥8,000 (~$80 AUD).
    • Examination Fees: Vary by grade (see fee schedule below).

  • Application Process:

    • Complete the Dan Grading Application Form.
    • Submit via email to grading@ausjudo.com.au by January 20, 2025.
