SouthWest Members Compete at the 2025 Fremantle Open

  • Written by Jacob Read
  • on 9 March 2025

Today, Sunday, 9 March, a group of determined athletes from SouthWest Judo Academy took to the mats at the 2025 Fremantle Open, held at the Fremantle PCYC and hosted by Judo Ryu Western Australia. The competition was fierce, and our athletes gave it their all.

A huge congratulations to our podium finishers:

  • Quinn Goff – Gold
  • Kieron Nae – Silver
  • Luke Phillips – Silver
  • Nate Stevens – Gold
  • Nick Goff – Gold
  • Aramiti George-Hetaraka – Bronze

While not everyone made it to the podium, we want to give a special mention to Hunter Kruger, who fought hard but unfortunately finished unplaced this time. Regardless, the effort and spirit shown by every competitor is something to be proud of, and Hunter’s determination will serve as motivation for future tournaments.

A massive thank you to Sensei Jacob and Sensei John for their coaching and guidance throughout the competition.

We also want to acknowledge the hard work behind the scenes. Sensei Krystal volunteered at the event, operating the scoreboard and ensuring everything ran smoothly, while Kayla Nae volunteered as a Green Shirt Beginner Referee.

A huge thank you to Judo Ryu Western Australia for hosting such a well-organised and competitive event.

🥋💪 Well done, Team SouthWest! Onward and upward!
